The Chronicles of Malus Darkblade Vol 2 contains the 4th and 5th books of the series, Warpsword and Lord of Ruin.
Malus Darkblade is a Dark Elf who became possessed by the daemon Tz'arkan while seeking Riches and power. Cursed by the Daemon now whispering in his ear, the Dark Elf has 1 year to collect the 5 ancient relics that will free the Daemon and his own soul.
Having acquired the first three artefacts in books 1 through 3, Volume two begins with Warpsword, the tale of Malus's journey to seize the fourth artefact required by the Daemon Tz`arkan, a powerful sword destined for the chosen servant of Khain in the city of Har Ganeth where skulls are stacked high in every street and travelers walking alone are destined for sacrifice.
Malus Darkblade was created by Dan Abnett, and collaborating with Mike Lee, these two well known Black Library writers have spun a story of revenge and betrayal with beautiful detail. Malus is the kind of Anti-Hero you love to hate and has given me a newfound respect for just how evil the Dark Elf race can truly be. With time running out, Malus and his Cold-One steed Spite will stop at nothing and no one in an effort to remove the Daemon from his body and reclaim his soul.
It's an action packed tale told from a villainous perspective, filled with slaughter and carnage. Throughout the book you find yourself cheering for Malus even as he slaughters his way towards his next objective. Several characters from Malus's path crop up through the book, tying into the overarching story.
Overall I give the book an 8 out of 10. If your the type of person who loves the badguy, plays the evil character or always chooses the Dark Side, Malus is for you.
