Okay I must come out and say it, my name is Warren and I am an appleholic. Yup. With my first development job my last year of college I saved all my pennies up and purchased a beautiful 24'' imac.... 3 years and still running (after I replaced the hard drive myself...that was a trip and a half)...after the Iphones came out...both I and cliff worked ourself into a family plan together to get a decent deal on that technology....then a new laptop, giving my old one to my fiance...who had basically commandeered it anyway. Every machine I run is an apple...ironic considering I develop apps for windows, but I digress.

Steve Jobs a month ago or so comes out with this interesting new piece of technology...the ipad.  I stare at this enlarged iphone and think that looks damn cool, what does it do that my iphone doesn't...well nothing really. So I look at it another way, would this be a convient way to send my oldest laptop to the elephant grave yard, can it replace that...well maybe...but I can't do the basic day to day things I need to do on mybattalion with it.

So I ponder, and I ponder some more. I think back to the Save Or Die Radio Crew's debate about using their netbooks for pdf's etc....I think how bad ass would it be to only need to take an ipad into a tourny. My rulebook is loaded up via pdf, and searchable, along with my codex and every opponents codex or armybook.  My Army Builder app from my iphone magically works with my ipad...all of my army lists are on my ipad, ooo built in calculator...o snap...I am seeing possibilities here.

Now not all of this will be doable immediately, I am very very curious to see how their pdf viewer works, if any type of import can be done with the ibook apps...but I can promise you this if there is a niche here that can be filled, we here at mybattalion will look to bring new tech to the table. But at the reasonable price point set for the product I am going to see if I can dig up enough information to determine if this is worth while investment for our hobby.

iBodger will definitely be supporting the iPad for Warmachine... lots of nifty stuff in the early planning stage.

So, wait, are the rulebooks and army books for GW, or Warmachine, product actually available in PDF? Or are you saying it'd be cool if they were?

@U.S. Male; I think Warren meant the latter, especially with GW, unless you 'acquire' them somehow..

Ex illis would be awesome on this or a similar tablet PC. Not that I plan to play it but I'm sure players would appreciate something bigger than an iphone that was just as light and easy to carry around.

Don't quite see this being practical for an interactive skirmish board, but it has got me thinking...!

Software depending I think an Ipad could be a fantastic resource while running a tournament. Players asks the TO a question, an FAQ can immediately brought up or a rule referenced. The aforementioned advantages in the article would make it quite handy...
I think there would be interest. Especially among larger events!
