I've been wondering for awhile about wood elves regarding if or when they'll be getting a new codex? I've never played with them before now and I'm not sure what newer and what's older?

They're not slated to get a new army book any time soon.

Meh that's all good for me, I'd hate to complete my army then a new edition comes out with really cool characters and units, just coaxing me to rebuild,

The Wood Elves army book is not all that old - I understand it was redone in 2008. You'll be waiting another couple of years at least for a new book.

although at the rate GW seems to be putting out codexs (around 2-3 a year now, maybe even 4 this year) you might just end up with next year or the year after, all dependant on what needs it more

i dunno because there are strong rumours of 8th edition for WHFB, so a couple of years for Woodelves codexes and Bretonia could be too much... maybe after Beast of Chaos they would be the next comming army or after bretonia.

Orcs and Goblins are quite weak atm and haven't seen any love for a long time, same with Ogre Kingdoms
